Q: Poodle Maltese Cross RE: tear staining

Hi I have a poodle maltese cross and would like to know of any ways to prevent or clean tear staining in these breeds. i have heard of a few home remedies but am unsure of how safe these are on dogs...

Answer: Tear Staining
There isn't really any way to completely remove it. The best way to keep it at bay, would be to use a cotton wall ball, soaked in warm water once a day. Apart from that, there are whitening shampoos and conditioners. But i wouldn't recommend putting anything close to the delicate eye area. Just one of the many joys of owning a white dog!
