What dogs would suit us
Hi, Obviously there are many answers to this question but I'd like some advice to point me in the right direction. We would like a dog but don't have a huge yard (approx 100m2) and are out during the day on weekdays. I've heard that it can be better to get 2 dogs in this situation so am possibly looking to get 2. I prefer bigger dogs (think labrador size) but realise that nothing too big is on. The dog(s) would be walked probably twice a day during the week and plenty of exercise on weekends. Oh, and we have a cat; not an aggressive cat but I'm not sure how it will handle a dog or 2. Any advice would be helpful. Cheers, Tim

Answer: What dogs would suit us?
Hi Tim. In Australian standards all breeds a sorted by group. Toys, Terriers, Gundogs, Hounds, Working Dogs, Utility and Non Sporting. It is worth while looking in to the breeds within each group. You can soon learn the qualities and requirements for each. A great site is Australian National Kennel Council. I would suggest you have a look at the Non Sporting group. Also if at all possible try and get yourself out to a dog show to meet some actual dogs and talk to breeders. It's hard to throw a few breeds at you as there are just to many and all equally fantastic. Start with the Non Sporting group and go from there.
