companion pooch
Hi i have a 1.5yr old spoodle and she gets left at home evryday when my partner and I go to work. I have noticed that she has been digging more recently and she seems to be a generally less happy dog and I think its because shes lonely/bored. Would getting a second dog cure this problem? Also would it affect how she interacts with us? would she still be as loving and friendly or is it likely that her personality would change by bringing in a second dog? Thanks (the dog I haev in mind is another moodle/spoodle/cavoodle type dog. Please email me your response ASAP as there is a puppy i have my eye on at the moment. Gemma

Hi Gemma. As a good rule of thumb, it's always good to have your existing / original dog 'stable' and happy before introducing a new pet. The last thing you would want is two dogs digging at the fence! If I was you, I would look at ways that you can perk your dog up a little before introducing another. Try more walkies, more environmental enrichment ect. Yes, another dog would possibly be a great idea - although the new pup would follow the lead from the older dog.
