Maltese x Shitzu is 10 years old and very strange
My Maltese x Shitzu is 10 years old. For the last month or two she has been very strange. She has been jumping up on tables, knocking over vases, photos ect, going into the freezer motor section (and has been burnt) peeing on the beds (very unusual for her to do this)excessive panting and very restless most nights and when trying to sleep she will scratch your head. I have taken her to the vet on numerous ocassions and physically all appears well. This behaviour is very distressing and is occurring on a daily basis. Can anyone help?

Answer: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
The poor little girl. I wonder if this might be a type of seizure activity. Some types of seizure's can warrant very strange and distressing behavior, and do not have to render the patient unconscious or convulsing. Firstly I would look at anything that has recently changed in her life that may be bringing this on. Diet? Medications? Shampoo? Conditioner? Environmental? If you can happily rule all these things out, I would start noting (actually writing down) all her bizarre behavior with times etc. You may possibly see a pattern form through this method and find some answers. If she 'clinically' presents well, it doesn't necessary mean nothing is wrong. I would consider a second opinion and discuss any Neurological possibilities. There are a multitude of reasons for what is happening, Neurological just seems a good first route to me. There is no harm is dis-counting things anyway to form a diagnosis.
