My dog is afraid of the wind? Newcastle (NSW)

Recently my 5yo Kelpie X has developed a fear of the wind. Whenever it is windy she will hide in the garden under low trees or sit against the front door. I don't know what triggered the behaviour but is there a way of counteracting it?

Sorry for the late response! Something has scared her or possibly hurt her in relation to the wind. You don't want to encourage her fear by over reacting to it but you don't want leave her to fret. Next time a big wind comes try distracting her and turning her fear in to fun. You could do this by offering her some treats, having a game of catch with her, a big belly rub, even a walk etc. Your Kelpi is a smart girl, so you just need to chuck a spanner in the works as far as her reaction goes. Lots of positive re- enforcement and turn her negative feelings in to happy ones.
