Advice on how many times to walk our dog a day

Hi There - I need advice on how many time to walk our Lab cross pup a day. He is a very big pup and is very active. At present we walk him twice a day and then during the weekends we take him up to my parents farm to run around for a few hours. Is this sufficent excercize for a lrage dog that lives in a reasonably small yard?

You actually need to be very careful with the extent of exercise you pup does get, in particular if he is big!! Labs are prone to hip and joint problems, and their exercise levels should be regulated for the first year of their life. I tend to think a few hours running around might be a bit to much! The key is small but regular walks. Don't forget that play time is just as good as walk time. Plus it teaches pup to use his brain and wears him out mentally. Get you pup weighed at the vet and chat to the vet nurses about a good exercise requirements for his age, size, weight and breed. You do have to be careful with Lab pups.
