In the back of the ute? Ewww.., Camooweal (QLD)
We have 2 blue healers (mother and daughter)and the older of the two has taken to pooing in the back of the ute every time we take them somewhere. It seemed to have started when she fell pregnant with her second litter. That was almost a year ago. We've tried watching and slamming on the brakes when she's about to make her move and disciplined her upon our noticing the poop. Do you have any advice? We're thinking of banning her from the ute all together but really dont want to.

Your going to crack up at my suggestion, but I will just go with it. Have you ever seen dog nappies?? You may find that applying a nappy before travel in the ute maybe enough to help her to hold it in. Although you would have to be prepared for a soiled nappy and a dirty bottom and have appropriate cleaning items on hand! Not to mention that people driving behind you would find it giggle-worthy! If this works it eliminates the need for you to rouse on your beloved pooch and eliminates the stress. Secondly, if you feel it started around the time of the second pregnancy you might want to get a once over from your vet just to make sure there is no medical explination. Try the nappy! Sounds silly but it may just work.
